Ear 4 the Earth radio series

This is an environmental radio series that I planned and produced for a Grahamstown audience. It focuses on issues that are increasingly pertinent globally but through a Grahamstown lens. Each episode in the series spends 10 minutes around the topics of food, water, recycling, and energy respectively! :)

Audio Book

In this project, we each had to find a book to record as an audio book for the local Grahamstown public library. I have chosen a book from the children's section entitled 'Joey & Patches: A Tale fo Two Kittens' by Margaret S. Johnson and Helen Lossing Johnson.

Audio Essay

This page features an ‘audio essay’, something new that we experimented with in our audio production course this year. The aim was to apply principles drawn from theory on qualitative social research to a reflective discussion of our own personal experiences of putting together audio documentaries. By listening to the talks and studying the text, listeners and readers will hopefully gain some insight into my own work, but also find a real meaningful merger between theory and practice.

Participatory Production

Working with Hospice staff and patients to bring light to their inspirational and underrated work. I am hoping to put into motion a series of Public Service Announcements (PSA's) that profile workers and patients involved in Hospice. Participants will keep an audio diary for a while, using audio skills and equipment that I will pass on in training. Follow me here

Documentary

A documentary based on the time I am spending within the Hospice organisation in Grahamstown, in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Hospice specialises in palliative care, catering for patients with terminal illnesses, as well as for the families of these patients in physical, psychosocial and spiritual ways. Watch this space!
